Its one heck of a concert. Yeah, there's the good, bad and ugly side of it. But overall, i had a good time there =)

Before the concert:
Yes, ur looking at 12 tickets there. 4 Vip passes and 8 normal tickets.
I'm not tryin to lansi or show off here (of course all the evidence is quite clear lah). Lol
I got all these tix few days b4 the concert. Which includes lining up at Times Square and from MtvAsia.com online contest.
Of course I've given out every single tix, according to the first come first serve priority of asking me bout it. No point holding on to it =P

And hey, I've put up the notice at my msn nick. So dun try to kill me for it

And here's the waiting pics at times square
This is the line in front of me
And the back of me, when its 11am sharp

~5.00pm~

Met up with Nicklaus and Su Yuen, Carpark B is still darn empty. Was expecting more ppl to turn up. But just bout 20-30 fellas sitting at the front entrance. Oh well, no choice but to just keep on stoning there.

Its like a reunion there, met about anyone.
Let see, there's Gary(primary sch mate), Pui Yee (Brat whom i didnt see for like 3 years), Hasrin (the guy who keeps on changing gf,haha), Angel (another Brat from year-end), Yee Hui (from Nirmala tuition), Avril's sis (cant remember her name tho), Rachel (the noisy lil fella lining up behind me and kept on whacking me,lol) and May-Huen (the last person anyone who expect will show up at the concert, admit it...ur just another freeloader! hehe)

~6.00pm~

Drizzling, everyone was shouting for the gates to be opened. And gawd, the queue multiply by at least 20 times, at the Digi Vip line.

See tht line of ppl near the canopy? It comes all the way from where the pic is taken
So finally gate opens after 10 mins or so, with bag checks and metal detectors hoping there's aint any stressed out koreans there =P just kiddin lah, but u know, for the sake of safety. hehe

Then they were giving us wrist strap tags (like the one u get in Sunway Lagoon), as a Digi promoter were asking around

"Are you DiGi's Fuyoh subscriber?"

Obviously I am one, which explains my tickets' existence. So she checked my phone, strap me on with another shiny silver wrist tag.

"Go to the information counter by 7pm"

Still puzzled, i took a closer look at the tag
...exclusive.....meet...and....greet....
oh my friggin goodness!!!! its a fucking backstage pass!

No way yo, this is awesome. As I found out, only the first 50 Fuyoh subcribers thru the DiGI Vip lane will get it.
Still bout 20 mins to 7. So I followed Nick and Su to check out the mosh pit. The distance to the stage is unbelievable! Its right at the front railings where ur spit will probably reach the guys on the stage. Haha

Here's the rough layout for the event

Anyway, I was waiting at the info counter for quite sometime. Before they divide us into groups of 10. Then there they were explaining the strict rules of no kissing, no hugging, no body contact, no personal cameras to be used in there and only 1 item per person for autograph.
Ookkkaayyy, how we suppose to take pics with them?

"We will have an official photographer taking the picture for u and then we will send it to ur email"

Haha, what could be better than that. Of course everyone's initial plan will be snapping amateur pics with the cam phone....probably alot with the cam-whoring style sort of snapping.
Of course we waited for quite long tho.

~7.40+ pm~
We were lining up like primary sch kids in a single line according to groups. Taking the left side outer route. A small door, but with the most security.

Its a row of air-conditioned white tents, bout 5-6 of it and the meet & greet session was at the first one. 2 more security officials at the front plastic glass door. As my group enters, the entire band can be seen sitting down side by side at a long table (somethin like an autograph session line-up...nvm that, it is an autograph session)

To be honest, they looked just like any other foreigners/guai lo/mat salleh you see at Ampang, Bangsar and Petaling Street...with much more familiar faces.

And yeah, i gave them my mtv t-shirt which i got from the goodies bag at the entrance. You know, i would let them sign my GC t-shirt instead, but cant help it as its black in colour.
I havent receive the pic yet, so in order from left to right shud be Dean, Paul, Billy, Benji And Joel.
I have no idea who sign where. Lol. I can only see the name Billy and Dean there.
So back to the mosh pit! Of course there's any aint sweet spot left for me to stand. Lol. I couldnt get back to Nick and Su as they were at the right side and I was at the left.
BUT, i get to meet up with Amanda. So coincidently saw her. Then for some reason we both end up at the center and middle of the crowd, facing the lead singer's mic position.hehe

The show started with vj denis, colby, fazura and utt. Throwing freebies, talking some nonsense, you know the drill of this.

One Buck Short was the first opening act.
No, i dun really like it. Probably like the same tune and riffs for all the songs. Fancy spot lights do make alot of performers look awesome tho, no matter what u do up there.
4 songs from them, which made the wait for GC longer.
As the lead singer approaches closer to the audience, i was thinking
"Pls dun ever throw away that mic and dive into the crowd and expect us to crowd surf you, no one can withstand ur weight man"

Estranged, i dislike them even more. In comparison, One Buck Short wasn't that bad afterall. Lol
Another 4 songs from them. Anyway most ppl anticipate for Jason Lo instead.

Jason Lo,
Being old, he still rocks hard as ever =) Still the best among all. Although having Disagree and OAG will be great for the opening act.

Playlist:
1.Operator, the line is dead
2.Old newspaper
3.Evening News
4.Malaysian Invasion

Thx to Shan Min for correcting my J.Lo's playlist. lol
Evening news was great. Its another variation with clean single guitar on first and second verse.

Finally, the long awaited Good Charlotte came on stage. Of course the silly part is where everyone cheering for the guitar technician who is sound checking the equipments

Playlist (not THAT in order, i cant quite remember which came first, lol)

1. Good morning revival (the first 50 secs intro song in the album without any vocals)
2. Misery
3. Keep your hands off my girl
4.Unknown song from the previous album
5. Predictable
6.I just wanna live
7.Hold on
8. Boys and girls
9. We believe
10. Dance floor anthem
11.March on (Thx to Amanda for correcting this =) )
12. The river
13. All black
14. Anthem

Might have missed out one or 2 more songs. hmm...i'll figure tht out later. hehe
Btw, the songs only unknown to me as I only listen to their latest album.

~The good, the bad and the ugly~
Overall, they gave a very good performance. Joel did sing well for all the songs, since there's comments sayin he cant do live shows. It sounded good enough for me.
Of course there are certain songs which i couldnt figure out from the intro they played. As it sounded rather off beat and tune.
And yeah, Joel did make some cheezy and corny comments. Bout how he wanted to stay in Malaysia, raise a family, find a replacement twin for his bro...etc etc.
I believe he barely seen any parts of Malaysia and whats more sayin its the best crowd he has ever seen?
Billy really rocked hard tho. You should check out how he multitask of playin the guitar and keyboard. Rock on!

Now the downside of the hill

Firstly, the BF syndrome. There's alot and alot of bf tagging along because their gf is a big fan of GC. The problem is, the bf aint one. So as observed, their presence are only to hug the gf from the back and maybe tryin to get a peck or 2 on them
There's a time when i saw this gal was limiting the bf from holding anywhere above her hips. So yeah, she just placed his hands near her side pockets. Lol.

Let see, on my right is a group of ah beng, 2 groups to be exact. Then on my left is a group of mat rempits and minah rempits.

Ah beng group #1: Making whole load of commotion when the vjs are throwing freebies to the audience. Which includes expression of frustration and anger when the tshirts didnt land on their golden head. As resulted, the whole group started shouting "Eat rice! eat rice!"
Yes, thats darn embarrassing for the malaysia chinese community. Malaysia Boleh

Ah beng group #2: These are the guys dressed in black shirt with a gf at the side. They spend time talking to each other while having the gf in their arms all the time of course. I think thats all they do. Then one of them decided to take off his shirt and they started to make a big deal out of it. Trust me, its nothin great. Unless u wanna see a small ugly tattoo on him and a 1-buncit-pack abs. I'm sure the guy wasnt feeling too confident of taking off his shirt completly as he left it one side hanging on his shoulder. Mencapai Wawasan 2020

Group rempits: Making whole load of noisy nonsense which is not tht comprehensible . The minah rempits will be shouting "I love you", "marry me" while the mat rempits will be shouting out lame comments, thinking its very cool and making the rempit chics laugh will score them another point. A good way of making non-comprehensible language more 'comprehensive' will be CALLING THE BAND'S NAME CORRECTLY.

Kut ca-let!!!
Kut ca-let!!!
Kut ca-let!!!
Britney spears!! (They thought shouting B.Spear's name when everyone else is shouting for GC gonna be a real funny joke. Yeah, end up laughing among themselves. Ini lah budyaya syok sendiri)

Give me a break
Malaysia Masih Boleh

You might be wondering why am I so free to observe all this? Coz its during Estranged and One Buck Short's performance. I've tried very hard to give them a chance, but still failed miserably. Haha

Rock 101
#1 : Never waste your energy before THE main band is out to play. This includes jumping around and hype up during the opening acts, sing along with the music video being played at the big screen and shouting when a technician is just only checking some equipments on the stage.
End-result? All looked half dead when GC actually appears. And what's worse? You can see couple of guys being carried out by their frens from time to time, coz either they're suffocating or experiencing exhaustion. Nothin wrong with that, but its darn wrong WHEN ITS ONLY DURING THE FIRST SONG FROM ONE BUCK SHORT!!!

#2 : Never ever hog a nice standing location or move around like a nomad during a concert. Ppl will get really really really irritated by that. Try having a group of 5 frens holding the hands of each other and started squeezing in between the crowd. What do u think ur doin?? Crossing a strong current river?? Its still ok if u keep on moving, BUT; what if they stop rite in the middle of nowhere and started talking among each other bout where to locate their other friggin frens? When they spotted the rest of their long-lost companion, there they go again...moving around.

And there are people who will aggressively tryin to move themselves as close as possible to the banister or railings at the front stage. This kind of ppl will usually come alone or the most with one companion, coz chances is that most of them wont be able to squeeze their way thru the crowd if having more than 3 people in a group. Survival of the fittest.
Its the same like gettin into a packed bas mini or tryin to buy a famous apam balik at ur local Pasar Malam.

#3 : I cant quite describe this one. Let me give you a situation

Denise: Are you ready for Good Charlotte???
Crowd: * Holds up camera/phone and start recording*

Joel Madden: I want you all to sing with me!
Crowd: * Holds up camera/phone and start recording*

Joel Madden: This is the best crowd we've ever been. Now i want you all to jump together for the next song!
Crowd: * Holds up camera/phone and start recording*

Benji Madden: For this next song, I want you all to hold ur cellphone and lighters high up.
Crowd: * Holds up camera/phone and started recording* (this situation can be pardoned)

Joel Madden: Apa khabar? How does it sound? I've tried very hard to learn to speak Malaysian
Crowd: * Holds up camera/phone and start recording*

*Technician came out to adjust the keyboard and amplifier*
Crowd: * Holds up camera/phone and start recording*

Alrite, thts enough. I'm sure you get what I meant. Ppl take pics, got a clear nice shot, then continue with the show. No...you wont get it here. Instead you will have loads of maniacs tryin to record the entire show. I dunno why, probably they wanna be the highest rated YouTube user.
We rock hard, we record even harder!
Malaysia Boleh!!

#4 : Ok, read this sentence properly even it takes 100 times to read it again. And repeat after me. I SHALL NEVER CROWD SURF IF NO ONE NEARBY IS WILLING TO CARRY MY BUTT AROUND.
Now the warning has been issued. What happens if u still keep on doing it? Obviously you will look like a loser who will be darned embarrassed. One guy tried that. He was like shouting and directing his friends "Carry me up!!!!"

Malaysia Book Of Record 2007
Attempted record: The fastest and shortest crowd surfing by a moron
Official time and range: 7 Seconds, within the range of 2.5 feet (could be just 2 feet)

Coz this is what happened there. 3 guys lifted him up, no one willing to entertain them. So its just throwing the 'surfer' among themselves. Thats why he can barely make it 2 feet from where he was lifted off. Wait a minute...he was supported by just being on his fren's shoulder. While he desperately tryin to lie flat on top of other ppl's head, but still ended up sitting on his poor pal's shoulder.
Ever seen a person drowning in pool before? He looks exactly just like that, desperately tryin to reach to the top of the surface but still goes down.

Actually 7 seconds is darn long. Imagine few fellas laughing by themselves and soon to realise they are making a fool out of themselves.

Malays: Poyo betul budak tu
Indians: (I didnt know how to say it out, lol)
Chinese: Sohai
Rest of the crowd: *
Holds up camera/phone and start recording*

There you go, perpaduan antara kaum.
"Rakyat yang cemerlang, gemilang dan terbilang", by Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

There's a funny incident which i noticed as well. Remember this pic i posted earlier on?
I think was during the 'Predictable' song. Anyway, Joel was leaning forward to the crowd at the banisters. Of course everyone wants to get near him. Then there's this gal, she looked totally outta control and in trance when that happened. She was crazily rushing towards him while the fren tryin to hold her back. Shud look at her fren's face...she was all worried and terrified by her. Lol. I didnt know if she reaches her destination tho, but one thing's for sure is that don't ever be the person in front of her.

So the concert ended with encore of another 3 songs ( i dunno if its called an encore coz thats way too many songs for an encore, lol) Yeah, so finally they are throwing away their drumsticks and guitar picks. Billy threw all of his 5 guitar picks, everyone went frantic over it. Of course i was eyeing it as well. Then i noticed one of it hits a guy's shoulder, bounced and fell right in front of me. No way man, what are the chances of that happening?

As i kneel down, feel the dark ground around with my hand. Picked it up. I was halfway overjoyed when i felt that piece of plastic.
First thing i saw is the GC pattern on the pick. Hell yeah man!! Its Billy's pick!
And i recognised his artwork of count dracula at the other side of the pick!
Lol

Probably one of my luckiest concert ever. Have a look if you dun believe me

P/s: All pics during the concert are credited to Su Yuen from his camera phone =)

Credit should be given back to you for the VIP tickets.
here's the math:
No Miu = No VIP Tickets
No VIP tickets = No Me
No Me = No Camera
No Camera = No Pic
So it goes back to
No Miu = No Pic

just too free to write out a formula for ya, btw thanks for the tix

Teehee~
Just love how you observe the scenes that go on around you...especially through a very humorous Malaysian's perspective.
It all adds a wicked twist to the most mundane, common things in life.
Don't think I would be able to come up with a post as wickedly funny as that, should I ever been to Kut Ca-Let's gig...

Dang, wish I went.
You larr.
